Cherry Creek schools honored for academic achievement and growth

2024 graduate

The Colorado Department of Education recently recognized 14 Cherry Creek School District schools for academic achievement and growth during the 2023-24 school year. Those schools received banners recognizing their accomplishment.

Twelve schools received the John Irwin School of Excellence Award, which was established in 2008 and is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time.

•    Dry Creek Elementary
•    Greenwood Elementary
•    Homestead Elementary
•    Willow Creek Elementary
•    Challenge School
•    Campus Middle School
•    Cherry Creek High School

The John Irwin School of Excellence Award recognizes schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement on the school performance framework by “exceeding” expectations on the indicator related to academic achievement over three years. In 2023, 215 schools earned this award; in 2024, 210 earned this award.

In addition, three schools received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award, which was established in 2002 and is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth over time.

Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award recognizes schools that demonstrate excellent student growth on the school performance framework by “exceeding” expectations on the indicator related to longitudinal academic growth over three years. In 2023, 96 schools earned this award; in 2024, 95 schools earned this award.
